The Sticks & Stones Quilt is a cute little quilt that can be used as a baby quilt or lap quilt and is the perfect size (finished 33.5” x 44”) to learn the basics of piecing, quilting and binding. Do you have a difficult time finding patterns that fit? Maybe you have a great idea for a one of a kind design but are frustrated by limited commercial pattern selection. Introduction to Pattern Making is for sewers who are hoping to expand knowledge and improve their skills. Over the course of the session, students will develop their own custom patterns and fashion creations. The step by step instruction is at entry level and open to anyone with basic sewing skills and some experience with commercial sewing patterns. Make this classic dress to fit you! We will start by making a practice garment fitted to your shape, and from that, make a custom pattern for a dress with and without sleeves. You can take your dress from casual to dressy with fabric and trim choices and learn how to alter the style of the pattern to make it your own. These dresses make up so fast, you will be making multiples. Basic sewing skills required. Techniques covered in this class will include: fly front zip, button hole, pants clasp closure, slash pockets, and curved waistband, along with tricks and hacks to take this pant pattern to any style you like. Silhouette Pattern Ralph’s Pants (based on a pair of Ralph Lauren slacks) is required. Get step-by-step instructions on how to make your own soy candles. You will receive your own candle making kit with all the materials to make three scented candles. You will select your scent when you register, your choices are Blood Orange, Strawberry Shortcake, or Very Vanilla. All candles are hand poured and made with 100% soybean wax. These candles were designed with environment and health benefits in mind, as well as using many natural materials, such as cotton wicks and recycled labels. Tuesday • 6 - 8pm • March 12 • $79 CR61-S19 Instructor: Linda Caforio Soap Making - DIY Learn to make soap and a simple salve in this hands-on three hour “Do-It- Yourself” class for beginning soap making. Using natural ingredients, you will craft a simple cold-process soap that you can take home to cure (curing will take approximately 4-6 weeks). You will also make a basic salve that can be used as a template for future home projects. The process will be demonstrated and discussed, and resources and handouts will be provided. Learn the fun craft of DIY soap making! Please bring a plastic container or mold to hold a total of about 4 oz of wet soap to take home, wear a long sleeved shirt and bring protective eyewear (goggles) and gloves.
